I love writing and one of the best ways I've found to tell a story is through animation.  These shorts juxtapose humor with the message clients are after.

Fun Daily Deal asked me to create an animation for their new website (think Groupon).  They only had two requirements: it needed to feature a cow and contain a mother-in-law joke (seriously).  The rest was up to me.

This is a short I produced for the Space Foundation.  My original script called for talking space chimps running amuck in the kid’s house, but we settled on a friendly yet socially inept alien.  I also managed to write in a shout out to my favorite food of all time—the turkey sandwich.

I was tasked by the American Heart Association to personify high blood pressure.  The result: Hiram B. Presher.  He is unhealthy, annoying and nobody wants to deal with him.  Through social, digital and radio channels, Hiram reinforced the importance of keeping your heart healthy.

For many years I created a custom animated short that served as our corporate holiday greeting.  When the agency I worked for was acquired, I was tasked with jovially referencing the merger while still tying in a holiday theme.  Throw in a gratuitous unicorn and viola—instant classic.

I produced this video for a Friday’s new business pitch.  We began the presentation with a video identical to this, but without any animation overlay, and then closed with the video above.  The point was to highlight all the opportunities for growth and development in a normal visit to the restaurant.

Animation can really help when trying to explain a process.  Here, I was tasked with inserting an animated explanation of how public relations efforts could help face-to-face marketers grow their business.

My Edelman Idea is an internal initiative to encourage sharing best practices among my agency’s more than 4,500+ employees.  Our Chief Innovation Officer tasked me with introducing the campaign to my region so naturally I chose to do an animation.

I’ve been known to animate in my free time as well.  This is my second-round entry for the Tournament of Flash Artists sponsored by viral animation and media site,AlbinoBlackSheep.com.  Animators were matched up against each other and were given two weeks to create an original short.  The only theme given for this round was “justice at last.”

I’m proud to say I won the tournament in 2009—the first and only year I entered.  You can see my entries for the other rounds below.

The Eco-Bunnies is an animated series I produced for Travelocity.  The three animated shorts helped explain Travelocity’s green initiatives, most notably carbon offsetting.  The characters were also featured in K-12 lesson plans for educators, had their own web and social media sites, and garnered well over 500k views.

This is one of the several shorts I created for the Pursuant Group.  They asked for multiple generic holiday greetings that could subsequently be branded and resold to their clients.  In this short, a snowman candy dish finds out just how hard it can be to run a business.

Hiram B. Presher is back, and this time he is annoying people on the street.  Director's note, all of this was off-the-cuff.  I was standing off camera interviewing these people without a mic, then re-recorded my lines again.  This was done on a shoestring budget, but we had fun with it and hopefully that comes across...the fun part, not the shoestring part.

How do you personify a product that you literally light on fire?  Make him a jerk so consumers don't feel so bad when they set him ablaze. Although it is one of my earlier and therefore less polished animations, this has been the most quoted short by my friends and family that I have ever produced.  That should count for something, right?
